It’s so hard to believe that our Poppie will be making her entrance in to the world in a little over 5 weeks! I’m certainly not Type A, but I am a planner, so I wanted to make sure my hospital bag was packed as soon as possible so I’d be ready when that big moment arrives. Because we’re in uncertain times, I took extra care to plan what’s coming with us to the hospital, because we have no idea if we’ll have the luxury of dashing out if we’ve forgotten something. As Andrew always says, “prepare for the worst, and hope for the best!” I’ve compiled lists of what I’ve packed for me, dad, and baby to get us through our hospital stay comfortably and hope it will help you expecting mamas plan more easily, too!
My Hospital Bag –
Travel Toiletry Bottles – I want to be able to use my own products when I shower at the hospital, so I’m packing these to eliminate bringing heavy bottles–plus, you can toss when you leave and not worry about them!
Pillows & Pillowcases – Bringing our own pillows from home is a must, and these inexpensive colored pillowcases will not only allow us to remember which ones are ours, but also be tossable at the end of our stay.
Towels – We’re packing towels from home for comfort while showering at the hospital. We love the Wamsutta brand for towels!
Going-Home Outfit – Comfort is key, but I still want to look stylish for our departure, so I’m packing these joggers and tee to pair with tennis shoes, and a flowy dress option in case of an unplanned C-Section.
Makeup & Hair Tools – While I’m not planning on a full-face for the occasion, I will want to feel put-together, so I’m packing the essentials, including my go-to primer, mascara and under-eye balm, and this hairdryer that gives you a salon blowout from home!
Snacks!!! – At this point, we’re assuming Andrew won’t be able to retrieve food, and mama loves to snack! We are SO blessed to have sweet friends who packed an entire Bogg bag full of snacks, candy, drinks, and a few other hospital essentials–talk about an amazing gift!
Speaker – We’ve been impressed with the quality of this DOSS speaker, and love the fact that it’s inexpensive if anything were to happen to it! I’m putting together a hospital playlist to keep the good vibes going throughout our entire stay.
Breast Pump – Our hospital, like most, has an on-site lactation consultant, so I’ll be bringing all of my supplies to have her walk me through everything! I’m also taking the online Milkology class, which has been highly recommended for mamas who want to know the ins and outs of breastfeeding.
Dad’s Bag –
2-3 Outfits – Again, with the uncertainty of these times, we’re not sure how long we’ll be in the hospital, so we’d rather pack more than needed than less! We’re packing shorts and tees, a comfortable polo/button up for some sweet first photos with baby, pajamas, and undies, of course!
Toiletries – Andrew will be bringing his day-to-day essentials–nothing fancy!
Sheets – We’re packing these jersey sheets to use on the hospital couch for a more comfortable sleep!
Books & iPad
Baby’s Bag –
Going Home Outfits – I’m packing a newborn and 0-3 month option, since we have no idea how big sweet girl may be! (Let’s be honest, I’ve packed several!) Bringing cute but cozy options so baby can be comfortable. I’ll be linking a few favorites later on this week!
Any Special Props for Photos – Our newborn photos will be taken a few days later at home, but I’m bringing this name sign to the hospital for iPhone photos!
Swaddles – Hospital will provide a receiving blanket, but I’m also bringing these gorgeous swaddles from A Little Lady Shop for our girl to be stylish!
Boppy Pillow – I’ve heard this is a must for learning to breastfeed comfortably, and for holding baby in general!
Hats – Not sure if we’ll need one in June, but newborns get chilly, so packing just in case.
Car Seat – Can’t leave the hospital without it! We already have our Uppa Baby Mesa car seats installed in both cars (bought one and were gifted one!), and I am SO impressed with how easy they are to install and how secure they feel!
We are feeling so prepared and through-the-roof excited to meet our sweet girl, and I hope if you’re prepping to bring your own sweet babe home, this list serves you well!
Stay stylish and enjoy the hunt!
