Having grown up in our precious town of Hartsville, SC, it's been amazing to see how it has progressed and grown over my 25 years. We're so blessed to have a variety of locally owned shops and restaurants, and we are so excited to welcome a new face to our downtown--Block and Vino!
From premium cuts of meat, to full ready-made meals--and we can't forget beer and wine--our new neighborhood butcher shop is so much more than what you'd expect. Though it opened its doors in Hartsville this August, Block and Vino is a well-known name in the Pee Dee. Brent Tiller, a Hartsville native, opened the shop in Florence, SC in 2008, recognizing the need for better quality, hormone free, organic meats. After 11 years he decided to close those doors and move B&V to Hartsville. With a growing technology business, Brent needed someone to help run Block and Vino, so he turned to family! His sister, Brandi, now manages the store's operations and always offers a smiling face when you step foot in their front door.
Of all of their fresh cuts of meat, Brent's favorite is the NY Strip, which will be featured at the Taste of Coker next Monday, October 7th! He was able to quickly rattle off many other favorites in the shop, including their pre-made chicken salad (I can attest to the fact that it is to DIE for!), roasted corn, and their Reuben sandwich, which has had quite the buzz around town. Talk about variety! Grab a fresh sub for lunch, some goodies from their cooler for snacking at home, or pre-order their daily special to take the guesswork out of your dinner plans. The specials are featured on the shop's Facebook prior to each upcoming week and offer meals such as pulled pork BBQ, chicken parmesan, and delicious ribs, complete with yummy sides and fixin's! Be sure to order early in the week as these specials sell out FAST!
My favorite? The Big Apple sub; although I haven't had anything I didn't love from our friends around the corner! (I could literally walk to the shop from my house--how dangerous is that?!) We are so thrilled to welcome Block and Vino to town, and I hope you'll stop by for a bite or two--you certainly won't be disappointed!
Block and Vino is located at 215 N 5th Street, across from the Center Theatre. They are open Monday-Friday, 10:30 am to 6:30 pm, and Saturday, 9 am to 3 pm. Follow them on Facebook at Block and Vino Neighborhood Butcher and Instagram @blockandvino, or give them a call at 843.309.9373.
Until next time,
Stay stylish and enjoy the hunt!
